FAQs on the UEFI bootable USB stick
What is a UEFI bootable USB stick needed for?
A bootable USB data storage device with UEFI support enables flexible solutions for Windows operating systems. It serves two primary functions. On one hand, it provides the opportunity to directly install or update Windows 10 or Windows 11. On the other hand, it acts as a rescue medium for computer systems that can no longer start due to various problems such as virus infestation, damage to the master boot record structure, defective hard disk sectors, or corrupted system files. After booting from this storage medium, extensive diagnostic possibilities open up, particularly the performance of a comprehensive hard disk check and repair. Furthermore, such a bootable USB stick offers additional application scenarios. It enables system backup, allows the use of portable operating systems on foreign computers, and protects sensitive computer data.
What requirements must be met in order to install Windows 11 ISO on the USB stick?
These are the most important requirements:
The USB data storage device must have at least 8 GB of storage space.
The computer has a stable operating system and the computer meets the system requirements for Windows 11: compatible 64-bit processor, sufficient RAM and hard disk space, and a graphics card that supports DirectX 12.
Stable internet connection to download the Media Creation Tool.
In order to have the necessary authorisations to download and create the USB stick, you should be logged into the operating system as an administrator.
