What do I do if a driver package does not contain a setup file?
Drivers without a setup file are installed via the device manager.
In the example, an update is installed for the Realtek High Definition Audio audio device, which is located under the Audio, Video and Game Controller branch. The audio device could also be displayed under the optional branch Other devices, if no drivers were installed or the component was not recognised by Windows.
The installation procedure is as follows in both cases:
The driver package must first be unpacked after downloading from the MEDION download page. Double-click on the downloaded file to open a dialogue for unpacking the file. The default target folder is usually C:\Medion, which can be adopted or changed. If the specified folder does not exist, it will be created automatically. Click on Extract to unpack the driver files.
Then open the device manager 1 and select the device to be installed with the right mouse button. In the context menu, a click on Update driver software starts the dialogue of the same name.
In the next window, the entry Search for driver software on the computer leads to the target. Once this has been clicked, Browse is then used to display the Find folder dialogue. You can then refer to the folder with the unpacked driver files in this folder.
Confirm the selected folder with Ok and then click Next. Windows then carries out the installation from the specified folder.
1 The Device Manager can be accessed under Windows 8 and Windows 10 simply by pressing the key combination Windows
+ x
. The context menu contains the corresponding entry.
