How do I find out if my computer supports TPM 2.0?

The quickest way to access this information is via the device manager. To do this, press the key combination Windows key + X to open the quick start menu. Then press G for the device manager.

If the list contains the entry Security devices, select it.

The version of the Trusted Platform Modules is displayed there, in this example version 2.0.

Details of the installed TPM

You can find more detailed information about the TPM in the Windows settings. Open it with the key combination Windows key + I. Type tpm into the search field and select Security chip.

The following dialogue shows you details about the TPM.

Specification version in this case means the available TPM version.

TPM is missing or must be activated

If the dialogue look like this:

This does not necessarily mean that your computer does not support TPM. It may only need to be activated in the BIOS (UEFI).

Depending on the installed BIOS, the entries may be hidden in different menus with different names. In the AMI BIOS, for example, the setting can usually be found under Advanced / Trusted Computing. If necessary, the value can be switched from disabled to enabled here.
