Why can't I launch Power Recovery from Cyberlink?

Question

Why can't I launch Power Recovery from Cyberlink?

Answer

You want to perform a factory reset with your computer, but the procedure given in the manual doesn't work?

The following tips and tricks can help you find out the reason:

1. The system memory of your PC, notebook, netbook or AiO system is too small.

  • Some of our products have too small system memory to create a Power Recovery partition. If your device has 64GB or less of hard drive space, Power Recovery is not installed.

2. Keyboard

  • The keyboard could be defective. Try another keyboard, please use an external one on the laptop.
  • The keyboard is connected to a USB hub or USB extension.
  • The external keyboard is connected to a third-party USB 3.0 port.
  • Test the keyboard directly on a USB 2.0 (black) port, without extension cable and without HUB.
  • For a desktop PC: Always use the rear ports, not the ones at the front of the case

3. Windows does not shut down completely.

  • By default, your computer shuts down completely, but Windows does not shut down completely because of the default Quick Start option. The system switches to S4 mode (Suspend to Disc). This saves a reboot point on the hard disk of your device. The next time you boot up, Windows is not reloaded completely, but only the entry point is queried and the system resumes. This leads to a faster start into the operating system, but sometimes prevents you from getting into the BIOS or the Power Recovery Tool.

The solution is as follows: Restart your PC properly!

Either you do this via the "Restart" button or you click on "Shutdown" while holding down the SHIFT key on your keyboard. In this case, wait until the PC is switched off and no sound is emitted before you try again.

Tip:

Hold down the F11 key on your keyboard before turning on the device and only release it when you see the Power Recovery Tool or the Windows logo.
