Ah, blame the updates then.  A black screen on restart/shut down denote some programs running on background and button use is not the best choice. The reason for suggesting checking windows settings: Restart ASAP on and notification update off will have as result unexpected restart based on update status while there is no app with exclusive access (like full screen games) running. Effect similar to described problem. Suggestion about power save was to be sure there is no stand by request which go wrong and does reboot instead. Welcome to the forum @Nizzu    An important information is required: the restart is controlled or the pc just cut the power? If it is controlled (closing app and run a regular restart) it might be a good idea to check the settings on windows update section (see active hours and forbid windows to do automatically reboot)    If is a forced reboot (like pressing reset button or lose power) it might be related to hardware and technical intervention might be required.    To make all things a bit more clear check the setting on windows update to make sure is not from there. And you might want to disable all sleep/stand by options from power save section. Also first thing on windows starts, check for updates. Back up all your date from original M2 Drive on a external drive big enough and use a close software like AOMEI Backupper to create a disk image (that will include the hidden partitions as well). When you create the image make sure you save it on external drive. Same software allow you to create a boot USB with the program in order to restore/clone your ssd. Once you create the bootable usb and have the ssd image saved on usb disk replace the m2, boot from bootable usb, connect the external disk which contain the image and select restore disk from image. Do not let the program to resize the partitions. Once it's all done go to windows disk management and create a new partition from the empty space.   So, you need to have ready a usb stick to be made bootable and an external usb drive big enough to hod your documents and the original ssd image. Make sure is not disabled from Fn key. I keep mine disabled all the time and the states on/off is kept over shut down and restarts. Also locating the exe file for that was quite easy as the name is "TouchpadEnableDisable.exe" Check the Fn keys.   ... View more

My Medion laptop (different model)  also does not wake up from keyboard / touch pad interaction nor by opening the lid. I just press the power button and its coming back to live (I've never bother to find out why is not responding to the keyboard) although under W10 I set up the power button to do shut down. It is possible that under bios (uefi) the keyboard wake up to be disable and there is no option to change that. My guess is that how were build. See how it works to wake up with power button. ... Builtin mic is never to be used while playing games because of the noise from keyboard, mouse and cooler's fan. For Nvidia card low details without a frame count control it's just as bad as exaggerate high details. What happens is that the GPU is trying to get max fps (like >200) and by that gets bottleneck by overheat. Set up a frame control to 60 fps (or even 45) then start adding details bit by bit until you get an average 75 Celsius on GPU/CPU. In some cases details from game options eats more resources than post process reshade for the almost same result on image (or even better) quality.   Let us know who goes after setting the cap on FPS.   Cheers ... Welcome to forum @hearny90    Overheating is the price a laptop pays for packing all that power into a small case. The airflow and cooling is way less efficient compared to a desktop.  A cooling pad might help (see the bottom of laptop where are the ventilation grills to match the cooling pad. Also lowering a bit the graphic details for games and strict control over FPS can help to prevent overheating. If we are talking about a shooters it's better medium details at 60 FPS than high details with occasional high FPS and stutter caused by overheating. What you can do in the mean time is to remove driver=>windows restart=>install driver=>windows restart  for all networks adapters (including bluetooth) one at the time. The restart is for windows to see unallocated addresses where the "new found" device can be installed (under another version of windows I use this procedure to correct the problem where am address was shared between sound card and network card) .  A physical fault is less probable because in most of the cases it's cut and dry: it works or not. That service can be stopped and switched for Start-up Type: Manual. Meaning the service will start only on demand (like windows error reporting, finding solution for errors, searching for missing drivers or other things) and will not affect windows stability or integrity. Hi @seanbirkhead, welcome to the forum   This kind of error it's strictly related to your machine/os and without a direct inspection of the problem can be only a lot of guessing. So here's my guess: most likely a background app using WI-FI (like One-drive or such). Before everything, clear the logs and restart the machine because the process that cause problems might get a different ID after restart. Check again the logs and find the current process ID (example:  <Execution ProcessID="6200" ThreadID="8024" />) To go to task manager.    Locate the process ID (PID) 6200 (or whatever ID is at that moment). Once you found it, right-click on that and at the bottom of menu select "Go to details" to see the app which calls for that process.  More actions can be suggested once you find that information.   Cheers.  ... Welcome to the forum,   A quick search reveals a limitation of Windows OS to 2 Tb storage unit. Under windows 10 you can use a native 4k native sector to push the limit to 16 Tb or stay at default 512k sector with 2Tb limit. Then of course, where is a will there is a way so converting MBR's disk to GPT move the limit to 9,444,732,965 Tb. All this information are available to a quick search on goolgle about "windows disk size limits". Welcome to forum,   The FPS drop is most likely the CPU protection (I suspect CPU and CPU share the heat sink). Easy fix is to limit the FPS on nvidia control panel to 60. It is a laptop therefore cooling system is not one of the best to hold a full load on CPU/GPU. Additional cooling pad might help as well. The reason for limiting FPS on nvidia control panel: even on medium or low settings the GPU tend to work hard to create lots of FPS hence the extra heat. Seek to balance the FPS and temperature since above 85 Celsius part of the heat goes to CPU and that one will cut off the work as self protection. I might be wrong and for this particular laptop the heat sink not to be shared but the FPS drop is 100% caused by overheat. A MSN of your laptop might help to dig technical info about your machine.   Let us know how that works.   Cheers   Edit: Now that I see the screenshots I can only think at windows updates running in background (lots of updates related to "20h2" for the past 2 weeks). Welcome to the forum.   Not sure if this is the best place to ask about music production. Medion insist and there are focused on budget gaming units. I'm saying this because I have 2 friends which are (were) in music production and both found (after many tries) best equipment to use. For music processing the choice was for an AMD based computer for high efficiency on compressing music compared to intel CPU while for compositions was an Apple as best choice for real time process on connection keyboard/midi software. In your place I would find a musician and see what he use and why. Above all, you might consider a PC over laptop since audio cards seems to have a great deal in music production,  My point is you ask about if a gaming computer is good for music production which by default are so different ways to use a PC. For example: fror music you might want to focus on CPU power more than GPU power. I might be wrong but from experience I know gaming and music production does not mix in terms of hardware. Yet, I would recommend a consideration for Medion Crawler E10 Core i5-10300H 8GB 256GB SSD 15.6 Inch GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Windows 10 Gaming Laptop - 30029419 based on: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-8300H-vs-Intel-i5-10300H/3254vs3646 and https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare/GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti-(Mobile)-vs-GeForce-GTX-1650-(Mobile)-vs-GeForce-GTX-1650-Ti/4089vs4090vs4195 All that for less than £200 difference. As a GTX1050  user I can tell that is a videocard near to the bottom of "good video card list" and that means in game low/maybe average quality settings.  Anyway, consider that GTX 1050 (TI or not) is close to minimal requirement for modern games. Hi,  Not sure if will help but a BSOD (Blue screen of death) is related to hardware problems in most cases. Also from experience I can tell "shit happens" (start up error). That can be easy fix by removing the power supply (and battery in laptop's case) and hold power button for more than 10 sec (20 sec should be enough). If after that you still get a BSOD... that might require a technical intervention (warranty). Maybe there are more useful information on crashdump and posting by using http://codepad.org would do. It is possible some software to be the source of your problems (drivers, viruses or other bugs) just as well as it could be an imperfect contact on memory bank.  Waiting for crash dump file.   Cheers. ...
