Can I install Windows 11 on my computer?
Whether Windows 11 can be installed on your computer depends on the hardware configuration.
These are the minimum system requirements for installing Windows 11 on a PC:
Processor1 | 1 GHz or faster with at least 2 cores and 64-bit capable or System on a Chip (SoC) |
Ram memory | at least 4 GB |
Hard disk space | at least 64 GB |
System firmware | UEFI with activated Secure-Boot |
Trusted Platform Modul (TPM) | |
Graphics card |
at least DirectX 12-capable with WDDM 2.0-Driver |
Screen | at least 9 inches and 720p resolution |
Internet access and Microsoft account | Windows 11 Home requires an Internet connection and a Microsoft account for the initial installation. All further versions of Windows 11 require an Internet connection to perform updates and to use some functions. |
If you are not sure whether your device fits the system requirements, you can use the PC System Diagnostics app to check the compatibility. In both Windows 10 and Windows 10 S mode, Microsoft also offers a downloadable app that tests your system's compatibility with Windows 11 for you.
If Windows 10 version 2004 or newer is installed on your device and your system meets the minimum requirements, you can upgrade to Windows 11 for free.
Open the settings of your computer, under Update and security you can now perform the free upgrade to Windows 11.
