Impossible to upgrade BIOS for ERAZER Engineer X10 (MD 34645) DE

Hi,

I have a Medion ERAZER Engineer X10 (MD 34645) DE, with random freezes.
On the website of Medion, I have found a BIOS upgrade:
https://www.medion.com/gb/service/product-detail/10024786

After to have disabled Windows 11 kernel securities, I have launched in administrator, and I have this error message "3 - Error: ROM file size does not match existing BIOS size.".

Any idea to fix that ?

Thanks!

Hi @LLLLLLL ,

bottom line of the picture shows, that you are running Bios V 1.13.

Received the information, that we received anewer Bios variant (V 1.1.6) which has been uploaded here:

https://cdn.medion.com/downloads/software/00_Bios_b560h6em2_v116_w.zip

Update procedure:

  1. Enter Windows environment and close all running applications
    2. Unzip 00_Bios_b560h6em2_v116_w.zip file and start file WFH.bat from the unzipped archive afterwards by richtclicking and executing "as administrator"
    3. Wait for the update process to be finished and restart the PC afterwards (if necessary) for the changes to become effective

Please remind, that for any errors, caused by the execution of this update, we don´ t accept any responsibility for damage or lost of data.

Cheers

I have used Gemini to try to find a solution, this is his analysis:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx

It seems that the motherboard announced in the specification of my computer is not the motherboard I have, thanks for your guidance.

Hi @LLLLLLL ,

just doublechecked the details and can provide a different update, which will suite better to your configuration.
As a first step we ned to know which Bios version (like 1.03, 1.06 or similar) you are currently running on your unit.

Afterwards we´ll provide a download link to the recent version V 1.16.

Cheers

hi @Major_ToM ,

I Don't have a BIOS Version V 1.03 or V 1.06 but 560H6EM2.113 12/29/2021, see my photo below.

Moreover, I have a second version in the bottom of the screen: 2.21.1278.

Do you have enough information to give me the right BIOS ?

Hi @Major_ToM ,

I have upgraded my BIOS with success, thanks for your help.

I will see if I continue to have random crashes and update this topic if necessary.

Moreover, I'm curious: in the previous bios upgrade procedure that was available on your website, it was necessary to upgrade BIOS and after Embedded Controller (EC), now, only BIOS like now.
It's not anymore necessary to upgrade EC ?
Or now, the new upgrade procedure does an upgrade of EC at the same time ?

I ask that because, based on my comprehension and because even the reset button didn't work when I had crashes, it's look like a problem with EC.

Thanks for your answer

Hi @LLLLLLL ,

that´s a good point which I will try to explain.

There are mainboards (like the ECS B560H6-EM2) on the market that have the EC included in the general Bios.

Other mainboards are coming along with a separate EC version a separately identified version number.

If you check your Bios screen, this is not the case with the B560H6-EM2

Btw: If you identify a helping answer, it would be nice to mark you question as solved by clicking the approriate "Solution button" on the right underneath of the solving answer.
This helps other Commmunity users with similar issues to solve their problem faster, cause your initiated TOP is then marked as "already solved"

Cheers

Hi @Major_ToM ,

Thanks for the explanation, I fully understand now.

The latest question I had but certainly no answer: how it's possible that I have crashes only now and not at the beginning when I bought this computer in 2022 ?

I have this computer since 2022, very few crashes, until now, where suddenly I had several crashes BY DAY, it's why I have investigated deeply with the help of AI.

And, now I have no crashes since several days, I have marked the topic as resolved.

Thank again for your awesome help: without you, I had no solutions.
