Erazer Scout E10 only sees 16GB from 32GB RAM Upgrade

Hi all,

I have a Medion Erazer Scout E10 17" FHD 144Hz i5 GeForce RTX 3050 Gaming Laptop, and I've just upgraded from the 8GB to 32GB using Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz (2x 16GB).

BIOS shows 16GB, Windows 11 shows 16GB, but CPUz shows both 16GB modules.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Looks for BIOS update, but Insyde don't make it easy it seems.

Yes, it was the official BIOS update using the driver which failed to work when running the FF.inf file. I also installed fwu.cer cert which resolved the cert issue on Win 11, but thus failed to do the BIOS update.

Appreciate the replys so far, but I've been unable to update the BIOS.

Installing the "FF.inf" does nothing, running Win 11 24H2. Unsure why its a driver? Usually its a utility tool to flash the BIOS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all,

Just another update from this. I did call Medion and get to their service dept, but still waiting for some more feedback from them. They did confirm the ERAZER Scout E10 does support 32GB of RAM.

Due to the driver not giving any information, I've used the pnputil in Windows via command-line and get the below. Still not useful as it does not show what the issue is:

D:\Drivers\Laptops\ERAZER Scout E10\00_Bios_Scout_E10>pnputil -i -a FF.inf
Microsoft PnP Utility

Processing inf : FF.inf
Failed to install the driver : No more data is available.

Total attempted: 1
Number successfully imported: 0

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hi blandy,

 your Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz follows XMP schemes..May be your PC isn't ready for this.

In the technical data on the ServicePage it says you can eve put in 64 GB (2x32). 

I did check the ff.inf. It is Ok.

After unpacking in a separate new folder, which shouldn't have a long path ( put the folder in the Desktop)  you have to open the ff.inf with right click as "Admin". And put the charger in.

The the ff.inf shows in the help section this picture:

May be you have to get a fully admin account. How to do this you wiill find in the internet.

Medion support finally got back and provided another location for the BIOS update, which did install successfully! Location was:

This is odd as it's not my MD value (MD 62705)

My laptop is: MD 62529 of which I use the BIOS update here, but it failed:

Anyway, it's installed... but nothing has changed. No mention of the BIOS being updated, nothing. Rebooted into BIOS and check, no version change.

Any ideas from your side?

OK, so an update on this and I now have 32GB working.

I decided to take the DDR4 out and use each stick individually in both slot 1 and 2. After booting, both were shown as 16GB correctly.

After this, I decided to put both back in, but swapped them round from what they were originally... and it worked! Confused as to why.

Seems they needed to be in selective slots, which is odd.

This  often is the solution. Reseating the modules. Maybe they didn't have sufficient contact.

After reseating them twice they were fully recognized.

Yes, seems to be the case, although CPUz did see both modules as 16GB each with a total of 32GB, but BIOS was only showing 16GB.

Its odd, and I should have cycled the modules just in-case. Never had this issue before with other ATX, Mini ATX, Laptops mobos.

No matter, they come up and are working now, so thanks for all the help, appreciated everyone.
