Hi @Armchairwarrior , the only way to do it is a blind flash which I found someone on YouTube that did it but temps only came down 12C which is a lot but still thermal throttled after 15 minutes of gaming. Shame as it’s great package and price but doesn’t deliver.  To answer your question.   no I didn’t unfortunately, I ended up returning the unit as after speaking with intel and median it was agreed that the timings and voltages for the boost frequency are set too high by default and is a current issue with intel chips for the last 3 years. I believe this also extends to desktop motherboard bioses. Where the current draw is also set way to high out of intel cpu specs causing high temps and early cpu limit cuts in all cases. I returned the unit to Scan who were outstanding in this issue. Have been going to them for 20 years plus building PCs. I ended up buying a bargain laptop ASUS vivobook pro 15” which is currently 38% off today making this laptop £999. I got mine for £820 with a coupon, link below if they will let me post it. I then bought a 2k panel nvidia gsync panel for £80 and installed that! 14 hours battery life in eco mode. fortnite and call of duty runs over 100fps on the intergrated gfx 780M and runs close to 200fps on the rtx4060 and runs super cool and quiet. maybe this info was helpful or not. maybe you can take ot back and swap like i did. laptop https://amzn.eu/d/04uAUntw panel https://amzn.eu/d/08FnnrdO ... Just to add to this on observations. If you apply discreet gfx through control centre and reboot. and then decide to go into bios. The bios screen is broken, it only shows up on the left hand side using about a quarter of the screen making it unuseable and unreadable. you have to force shutdown the laptop, restart to windows, apply hybrid setting for gpu then go back to bios in order to use it. i can provide a photo if it helps? thanks ... Hi,   I hope this message is interpreted the right way and not as a complaint but an observation to better an already very good product. Very happy with my machine but frustrated a little by buying a unlocked sku cpu to not have any control over the cpu in the bios as we all know the 13th gen processors run hot and some manufactures over volt the cpu's by default as is heavily documented on youtube over the past couple of years. and again in the past week.   i am a system builder since early 2000's and love to make my machines as fast as possbile but effienciently as possible and cool and quiet. I would like to know why this machine that is built by a custom manufacturer doesnt have cpu control in the bios to allow for undervolting for obvious reasons considering this is an unlocked sku cpu?   Again not a complaint but i didnt for one minute expect not to have the option when buying this laptop to control the cpu in the bios when buying an unlocked intel cpu. gpu already undervolted and performing exceptionally well, this allows more thermal headroom to cool the cpu but unable to control cpu voltage as you should on an unlocked cpu to bring temps down. When will there be a bios update to solve this issue please? the reason i ask is due to testing is the temps get very high very quickly and then the cpu thermal throttles with excessive voltages applied to the cpu and i feel this shouldnt happen or be the case. With a little tuning this could be avoided and have a stable machine that doesnt thermal throttle and does hit its boosts without the performance hit of the advertised speeds. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated in helping to reduce this issue.   and my earlier question about the control centre that has me questioning myself is because on the pic attached, wierd or what? on task bar says its 6.009 update for download says 6.0.4.2 which sounds like an updated version; but when i come to install the package, see attached?       ... silly question but ive got into my own head and cant work out which is newer? i have control centre package v 6.009 installed is that older or newer than the one on the downloads section for the p40 defender that says version 6.0.4.2, mine on the laptop is older right? any help would be a prreciated ...
