What happened post format was that it worked! @daddle ... The windows 10 install thing started. Only it then gave this error: "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error Code: 0x8007025D". Before getting bogged down in complex technical possibilities, I will buy a new USB stick. Cheers ... View more

Hi @daddle  Interesting, thanks. I redid the Windows 10 USB on my 32Gb stick In the Bios prog it doesn't show up as Windows Boot Manager. Instead just has the brand name of the USB stick, Verbatim something. It is the only thing on the list. I don't know if that's unusual. I replaced the SSD and the 1Tb hard drive is still in there. If I click on it it goes through the black screen, blank blue screen, power off cycle. Soo, for lack of better ideas, I'm reformatting the USB stick [FAT32 again] and redoing the Window 10s USB thing again. I will see what happens. 🤞     ... View more

Thank you @daddle  I've created a Windows 10 usb now on my old machine, having realised it was Windows 10 Home originally. What happens now is: - I can power on and restart pressing f2 and I get the bios prog. - When I restart with the Windows 10 usb plugged in and don't press f2: There is the Medion logo screen, then a black screen then a blue screen, then it powers off. Hello @Fishtown  The MSN is 30027201 I have replaced the SSD. It now goes to the Insyde BIOS programme when I press F2. I created a Windows 11 bootable USB, but nothing happens when I power up with it plugged in. I tried a few things in the BIOS setting to put it right but none of them worked. So I'm now creating a Windows 10 one in the hope that'll work. Any hints much appreciated. Assuming I get Windows to start installing at some point what do I do for an activation key? Hi Fishtown Thank you so much for getting back to me! I restarted with F2, which rebooted but didn't start the bios menu. I then took out the SSD and it went to some kind of recovery screen but I couldn't get it to boot, although didn't spend long trying. I then put the SSD back in and it reverted to the original bricklike behaviour So it seems like the SSD's faulty, right? I ordered a new one. I'm hoping that'll fix it.     ... View more
