Netflix-Kompatibilität

Hallo allerseits,

Danke!

Der Doktor

I made the factory reset 😞

I think it is some kinds of network driver. When I turn wifi off, it still takes ages to say it cannot connect. This should be done in seconds.

Hello,

we ran more tests. Apparently Netflix can still have problems if you have installed system updates, i.e. if you come from an older Android release (5.1 or 6.0). It seems that Android "carries" some things in its (config) data that can keep Netflix from working properly. Unfortunately the behavior is not identical for all devices, update histories or Google accounts.

Sadly it is beyond our abilities to debug this further. We have been able, though, to make Netflix work again in all cases. Here's our list of recommendations:

1) if Netflix is not even visible in Play Store you need an Android update from us. This currently affect P1050X, P1040X, P850X and P851X. P1050X is already online. The rest will follow shortly.

2) If Netflix is visible in Play Store but marked as "not compatible" we found it helpful to remove the Google account from the device and add it again. It seems some problematic info is tied to the Google account.

3) If Netflix is already installed, but refuses to launch (hangs in splash screen, possibly error "-9") it may help to uninstall and reinstall the app in order to avoid cases of invalid app configrations.

4) If this does not help it may be useful to reset the network configuration (settings/wireless, may be settings/backup+restore on some devices). Caution! All WIFI password will have to be entered again!

5) If the problem persists, please try the various hints posted here and here and here in the Netflix support portal.

6) As a last resort it is always possible to factory-reset the device. Caution! All data will be lost, so make sure you backup everything before! With this option we could always solve the problem, since all problematic parts of the system config dating back to 5.1 or 6.0 were deleted.

We have Netflix running flawlessly on all our test devices. We can watch TV series for hours or days in an endless loop without anything hanging or stopping. Please try our hints (possibly after installing the respective updates) and let us know how things work for your.

Best regards
The Doctor

Lieber Doktor,

I am sorry to say that I also had to make a factory reset. It cant be right to do it. Android, Netflix ore Medion should be able to fix it, without a reset

I am disapointed.

None of the solutions fixes my problems. I have noticed that chrome has issues to with browsing. So this looks like a network driver issue or something. I don't want to do a factory reset, so I  amhoping for a working solution soon.

Even when I have airplain mode turned on, it takes ages to give error -9. So it looks like it is doing something else than finding the netflix server.

Hey @SteenDK and @guidorobben,

I feel like you kinda underestimate the effort it took to fix the SafetyNet issue.

@TheDoctorgave a bunch of potential solutions to your problem and also mentioned if none of these help there is no other option than to make a factory reset.

I cannot imagine that there will be an update that fixes the problem without having to do a factory reset.

Anyway why would Medion release an image that forces you to make a factory reset IF they could avoid that? Sounds kinda stupid, doesn't it?

Greetings,

Uwe.
