If the problem still persists, go to the device manager and check the audio driver. You can remove it if necessary and Windows should then install it automatically after a restart.

Normally the x over the Ton(?) loudspeaker symbol says Volume swichted off. Or do you mean the Audio catagory in Device Manager?
Like you wrote here, and got the answer already?
And why didn't you answer the Mods hint, to give us an update, if my answer solved your problem?
