major x20 md62520 battery and gpu wattage problem

Hi everyone, I bought a new notebook medion erazer major x20 md 62520 (MSN30035496) and I'm encountering two problems: 1- the battery not charging specifically, the battery is always at 0% and as soon as I connect the charger the red LED flashes for a few minutes, then remains solid red for a few more minutes and then turns off. The charger works correctly because I tried with a voltmeter and 19.9v comes out as expected
2- there are problems with the in-game wattage of the RTX 4070 video card which does not go beyond 30W of power causing low fps. I checked that the various driver and Windows settings were set correctly or even set "maximum performance" but nothing changed.Another strange thing is that the GPU clock in the menu is correct while in game it drops, and vice versa the percentage of clock usage. Could it be bios related? (i'm on bios 1.07med02 and ec 0.30). I saw a post with a similar problem and it was solved with a bios and ec update https://community.medion.com/t5/ERAZER-Gaming/Erazer-Major-X20-MD62525-NEED-LATEST-BIOS-UPDATE/td-p/...

Can i eventually update bios to gmxpx7xn109med06 and ec GMxPXxx_11.600?

The battery problem doesn't bother me by always using it connected to the AC but I would like to solve the gpu wattage problem as long as it is not related to the battery problem which perhaps does not receive enough voltage to recharge and make the whole thing work properly.
Thanks in advance!

After fiddling with programs and settings for days I managed to come to the conclusion: in practice it seems that the video card is in sleep mode when the system starts and needs to be woken up. I found the solution by enabling the developer options on the nvidia control panel and selecting one of the two items present under gpu counters. By doing so the card refreshes and unlocks full power.

I have all the windows and nvidia settings set to maximum performance so I don't know which of the two has a bug or if it is a problem related to the fact that the battery is not working and is at 0% constant and puts the pc in a sort of energy saving. If anyone has any ideas on what it could be and how to avoid doing this procedure at every start I thank you. In the meantime I am thinking about whether to have the pc replaced for the non-working battery.... Is it possible to have medion send a battery under warranty without having to return the pc to the supplier and have them give me a new one or have it sent in for repair?

Hi @ago89  and welcome to the Community,

first of all thank you for your detailed issue report and (of course) we´re thankfull for your present investigations, that helped to solve one of the "issues".
My thoughts on that: Did you already "play" with the settings of the ERAZER Control Center application and maybe try to switch the Power Profile"?

Regarding the battery problems we´ll send you a Private message in brief, to help you solving this issue.

Ciao

Hello @Major_ToM  and thanks for the welcome and the answer. Believe me, in two days I tried everything even uninstalling the erazer control center to see if it created a conflict with something else, fiddling with entries in the bios, changing windows power plan also enabling hidden features, trying different nvidia drivers, ecc  but there was no way to get the gpu to go into operation.

it doesn't let me send pm. it gives me this error:

Hi @ago89 ,

well.. I absolutely belive you, but would appreciate to get further feedback from other Community users, which own the ERAZER Major X20.

Could you please LogOff/LogIn once and then try to answer my message?
Maybe this helps

Hello everyone, I'm at my second Medion laptop, the first one was an erazer with a 950m that worked flawlessly, but now I bought a Major X20 and I have the exact same problems as @ago89

The laptop arrived with a battery stuck at 0% and the GPU gives low fps unless I reinstall the drivers every time I start the computer. I tried everything for days and I also installed bios 1.09 med06 and EC, but nothing helps. Is there a solution to these problems? Maybe ago89 fixed the problems somehow (?)

Hi Snake,

I would return the Laptop, because a such emptied battery never becomes 100% again.

So cancel the order, if you can and get the refund. And order or buy the same model again, If you like too.

Otherwise I should talk to Medion Hotline and send it in for service. I guess you still will have Guarantee.

Or did you buy second hand?

Bye, daddle

Thank you for the reply, laptop is new, honestly I don't care about the battery because I use it always plugged in, the problem is that I have to reinstall the drivers every time I start the laptop to get good frames

I think I understood what the problem is, many laptops have the CMOS bios battery integrated with the laptop battery itself and since my battery is constantly 0% this gives me problems with the CMOS/bios and resets the GPU tdp at every restart

This I never experienced, and is bad for keeping  CMOS values, if the main battery gets fully drained.
