Memory type for X6807

Hi

Just bought a X6807 gaming laptop from box  (popular deal this week I think!)

It comes with one 8GB ram stick. I went to scan it at Crucial so I could add a second 8GB and their scan could not identify it. Which was a surprise.

I know it's DDR4 ram - do I need to look for a specific spec of ram though or is it reasonably generic?

Thanks

Martin

OK thanks, I can see they are offering a Dimm there but it's very expensive at nearly 70eu including shipping. All I want to know is what the generic product is so I can make my own buying decision. It's ridiculous that it's such a mystery.

Hi @martinmt

no mystery,

what kind of ram you got was written to you in post 4 of @TPFLegionaire

if you want to have an exact name read the ram data with:

Hi - that's helpful, thanks.  I'm using CPU-Z but I'm concerned it doesn't give enough information on exactly what brand is used.  In order to get the additional boost you can get from using two 'identical' (I guess close to is enough) sticks I want to be sure that what I get is as similar as possible.

CPU-Z tells me little more than post 4.  Post 4 is very helpful, though.

@Fishtown - thank you that was really useful. I *think* I now have a compatible Samsung  DIMM (and for under £40) so I am ordering and if it is the correct type and size, I'll mark complete and provide a link for others etc.

Hi there

I am expecting my new DIMM tomorrow and I am confident that this time it will fit and work as the part number is correct.

I bought it from Scan.co.uk in the UK , with tax and delivery it cost about £42

In case anyone wants to look at this - here is a direct link to the product:

Update: Ram received this morning and installed and all sorted. Genuine Samsung Dimm as well.

Thanks

Martin

Thanks for the informative thread, Martin (and others).

Just for info, in case it helps anyone else.

The Crucial (UK) memory scanner worked OK for me for my X6807 >> my results page at Crucial - and the same thing - as a 3MB png file - and - as a 5MB PDF.
