Hi everyone,
I have a serious issue with my Medion ERAZER Deputy P30 (i7-12700H, RTX 3060, 16GB RAM).
After working fine for a few days with Ubuntu, the laptop no longer boots any operating system, including Linux (Ubuntu, Pop!_OS) and Windows 10/11.
I tried reinstalling via USB, but I always get a black screen after boot – no logo, no output at all.
I also tested GParted Live and other diagnostic tools, same result.
Even with the SSD removed (booting only from USB), the screen stays black.
It looks like a driver issue or hardware compatibility problem, but I can't figure it out.
Has anyone experienced similar problems with this model?
Are there any BIOS settings that could cause this kind of behavior?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello
Just got black screen, no DC led, no more booting, no fan sound, as stone died ....!
Last use was 1 month ago.
AC adaptor still delivering19v DC output at multimeter...
Please Majort_ToM, Fishtown, is there a hard reset, a USB fw bios chip wakeup recovering, a battery trick or kboard combi to recover this P30 defender died-like laptop ?

Hello @fablabla ,
if your power adapter is working fine but the DC LED isn't lit, check if the charging port (DC-In jack) is working.
I would check that first.

Thx Fishtown,
I'll try to test tomorrow the DC_in jack on the Main Board (previously have to look for the solder points to pick).
Meanwhile, as I have deconnected the battery slot on the MB, I was wondering if the battery is in fact needed for allowing hardware to start (because of the first unlocking that say wait 8 sec before turning on the notbook) while on DC power attached ?
Also can it be any auto-block within DC or battery chips ?

Hello @fablabla
No, the device works/starts even without a battery. (with the power adapter connected).
My notebook has been working for a while (battery defective) and also had a transport mode (for initial setup).
This mode protects the battery during extended periods of inactivity/non-use. This means that the battery power is reduced to a minimum when the device is turned off and the power supply is interrupted.
It can then only be turned on again when the power adapter is connected.

Thx for your quick answer.
I did'nt find a way to pick a good tension plot near MB jack DC 19.5v female adaptor and i'm not yet ready to disassemble the MB to look for any possible back access...
But it can be possible that i have trouble with my multimeter (which always shows 0 between the 2 visable pins outside back the DC jack adaptor), as it shows also same null measure sometimes from the AC adaptor output itself !
I put a new 9v battery inside but that no measure problem arrise time to time. So I'm now waiting for a new multimeter !!
I noticed Medion service shop have no DC power jack but an Power Switch Board "NBC POWER SW BOARD CLE V170RNCQ",
so the jack is not the only power device, the keyboard "button" can have broken.
Problem as arrived while P30 was on AC adpator with deep sleep form unix during 3 months w/o use. So i suspect also an empty battery now. With a new one just received and i think alternate juice provided, still no powering any fw & bios. So perhaps the problem can be that Power switch ?!?
What do you think about that facts ?
FYI : P30 has run a maximum of 3 hours from the first start, and now is bricked after 3 months unused ... no fire or overheat evidence once back cover removed, other pc drained from same wall and 3 month sleeping, only that Medion is concerned !

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? This will restore the BIOS to factory default. CMOS resets can often resolve odd glitches/POST problems that might occur. My Medion P6705 had an issue over a year ago where whenever I put the laptop to sleep and tried to reboot, the laptop would no longer POST. It didn't matter if I removed all components (SSD, etc), issue was same. Laptop would try to boot and hang on a black screen (blacklight was lit, but screen still black).
To get it to boot, I had to keep resetting the CMOS. Every time I did that, the laptop would POST again. Found the issue was being caused by the NVMe SSD I had installed. Replaced that and it's not happened since, but this issue showed me how a CMOS reset can fix odd issues with POST.
Check to see if your laptop has a CMOS battery inserted. It will either be a coin-shaped CR2032 battery that's inserted into a CMOS battery holder, or it might have some tape covering the battery and be connected with a small cable. The battery can be located on either side of the board. If you can't see it when you take the bottom cover off, you may have to remove the board from the laptop and check there. It could be hiding there.
If you find the battery, ensure all power sources are disconnected (battery/charger) and then remove the battery. Leave it out for a few minutes. Put it back in after a few minutes have passed and then connect a power source. Check to see if the laptop behaves any different. Give the laptop some time to boot as the 1st boot after a reset can be slow. Laptop will reboot several times. If still nothing, then the reset is a fail. You can try again, but probably won't work. CMOS resets don't fix everything, but they're worth trying if possible.
