If only . . . Advanced settings Sleep is allowed Hybrid sleep is allowed Wake timers are disabled Lid close action - Sleep (does not switch off). If I close the lid it sleeps but does not turn off Sleep button action - Sleep but it does nothing If I set sleep on battery after 1 minute and leave it,, it sleeps but does not turn off. (I turn it off and back on and it resumes just fine) If I try start->shutdown it shuts down but wont turn off

Medion Akoya E7214 running Windows 7. When I put the compujter to sleep, All the normal events take place up to the point where the computer should turn itself off - and then nothing happens. Eventually I press the start/stop button and it turns off. And when I turn it on again it resumes exactly as if it had actually gone to sleep. This is irritating especially as if I turn it off too soon (I need to wait maybe a minute after it looks like it has stopped) it does not resume Restart works fine: Turns itself off then back on again So how do I make sleep turn off automatically?

Update: I have also noticed that:- - Start->Shutdown does not turn the laptop off. It appears to do all the shut down functions (screen goes black etc etc) but not turn off the laptop - This is really weird because Start->Restart does the same thing except that 35 or so secs after the screen going black the laptop shuts down and then restarts. So why does restart shut down and restart but shut down (and hibernate) will not shutdown?

New install of W7 all works fine but . . . When I Shutdown->Sleep nothing seems to happen & I have to power off to stop the fan whirring. Switch on is a normal windows start up When I Shutdown->Hibernate nothing much happens (no disc activity light) and I have to power off to stop the fan whirring. Switch on says Resuming. So at least Hibernate works turning off the computer does not work Ive checked the power options (including advanced) and I can find nothing that is preventing turning off (Hybrid sleep is allowed) Powercfg -A says Standby (S3) Hybrid sleep is allowed. S1 and S2 are not allowed. Ive checked the Device Manager settings for everything that has a power management tab HID compliant mouse (A USB mouse) has a greyed out unticked Power Management setting "allow the computer to turn off this device" but hibernate does nto turn off even if I remove this mouse The 2 Network devices have "allow the computer to turn off this device" ticked as do the Generic USB Hubs anbd the USB Root Hubs. So what is preventing this computer from turning off?

yes thanks. Got PC with Win10. Reinstalled Win7 hence no Launch Manager Now I cant get it to sleep/hibernate but I'll start a new post

I just cant get wifi to turn on. BIOS options are Off or Last State Device manager says wifi card (Realtek RTL8192=1SE) is enabled and working properly Drivers are up to date Control Panel->Network->Wirless Connection->Enable but wifi has a red cross Task Bar wifi has a red cross Windows mobiity centre (Win+X) has wireless shown as off and 'Turn On' is greyed out Troubleshooting Diagnose always says "Use the switch or Function Keys if available" F7 has the wireless symbol and does nothing (regardless of whether Fn Key is pressed) The only hot key that do anything are F4 (alternate screen) or F5 (volume off) So maybe the hotkey software is not installed. Where can I find it? Any suggestions welcome
