BitLocker drive encryption is a Windows security feature that protects data from unauthorized access. When encryption is enabled, only authorized people can access the device and its data.
BitLocker is included in Windows Server 2008 and later, and in the Ultimate and Enterprise versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7, as well as the Pro and Enterprise versions of Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 11.
BitLocker can be enabled and disabled in the Control Panel under BitLocker Drive Encryption.
