I have been given a very old Medion Akoya E1210. I am trying to see if I can make some use of it (other than going online as it clearly cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 and Windows 10 support ends in October 2025). At present the operating system is Windows XP. My question is whether I can upgrade to Windows 7 or even higher? It does not have a very large hard drive so there are limitations as to what I can do.
Any advice very welcome

Hi daddle. For me all I wanted was to get the machine running again and the possibility of using it just for creating documents on a very occasional basis. I am very much a Mac person and I have my main iMac and a small Mac Air for going away. The Medion was a very old machine I gave to someone and subsequently rescued when I heard it was due for the tip! I appreciate your thoughts, but I will pass as it does all I need it to do.
In terms of the Office software my situation may be slightly different. I did all this a long time ago so I think this is what I did! The software I bought was Office Home and Student 2010 with a product key only (for one device only). I downloaded the software from the net and burnt it to a CD-R in case I needed it again. At the time I used it on another laptop which I have subsequently converted to Linux (just to learn a bit about the system). For the Medion I simply loaded the CD via an external CD device, added the product key and all went as it should. Your issue puzzles me as you have a 3 device licence. Sounds to me like a Microsoft issue for them to sort.
Again my thanks and I really do appreciate your help. For me I have got to the place where I am happy with the Medion.

That's what I did with my Office Home and Student 2010 3x license. about half a year ago. And definitely the third license was stil unused . But trying to activate it, MS answered support had ended. Office 10 was to old to get activation.
I even had a complete update-file set from PC Professional or PC World Computermagazin, which holds all updates in a single container. And I installed first from the original Office 10 CD. Andd tried. Then after the Updates
I will give it another try, to get maybe activation by phone!
Installing with the valid product key worked of course, also all the updates but when trying to load it didn't work with the critical MS message.
Have nice day, it is "Vatertag" ! 😁
In reality it is a religious holiday celebrating the Ascension of Christ
