@daddle  haven't had a chance to try your suggestion yet and won't get a chance for at least a week. Replacing current HD, so main slot, didn't realise there is a second slot.

SSD is working as I have tested it, HD bay is working as I took the old one out and put it back in again and installed a new OS.  I'm not overlooking it in the BIOS, I've been installing new hard drives into computers for over 30 years, so I think I know how to install one and check that it is there in the BIOS.

@RAZZ  thanks for the BIOS update, completely understand that if I go ahead with it and kills the laptop it's my own doing. Thanks for it.

I'll take another look at the install, pull the RAM and double check everything again and see how it goes. I really appreciate the BIOS update and 100% understand the risk.

Thanks again @RAZZ  and @daddle  for your input and suggestions.

Hi Alan, how are things going?

Have you managed to install the new SSD yet?

An installed HD/SSD won't show up on the first BIOS page. That doesn't prove the SSD wasn't recognized, and it can not  be determined from your screenshot of the first BIOS page. So, what happened next, and did you flash the new BIOS?

You could run a test using the Media Creation Tool. I recommend starting with a newly created USB drive with a Windows 10 ISO file for a test installation. In one of the first windows you will be asked where you want to install Windows (on which  drive and partition); then all available drives will be displayed.

This could also show whether the new SSD is recognized.

Regards, daddle
