PC's GPU drops from whatever to ~5% when playing coop games

My bad for the title, but it is in short my issue.

I have a Medion Erazer Hunter X62, which for whatever reason during certain online play games completely bricks the PC at random.

Randomly when playing specific games (Minecraft & Vintage Story) the GPU drops from whatever it was at to about 5% and my PC moves incredibely slow. My mouse moves every few seconds in big jumps, like my whole PC is lagging behind.

Windows logs show no issues, nothing that could be detected in the system. Temperature never exceeds 65°C and RAM has been checked and considered fine using the built-in windows system.

This PC has had issues in the past and had parts replaced under warranty by Medion, in particular the cooler and the CPU.

All parts are, to the best of my knowledge still the same as when I purchased it, about 2.5 years ago.

The issues only occur with specific games, I can stresstest my PC and nothing goes wrong. Just those games, while other multiplayer games never have this issue.

Sometimes the issue doesn't happen at all, sometimes it takes hours and sometimes 20 minutes. There are days it doesn't happen and days it happens multiple times.

Rarely the issue fixes itself after a few seconds, usually after shutting down either discord or chrome but usually a full reboot is required.

I am at my wits end, I do not want to send it back to germany, cause they'll hold on to it for another 5 weeks like the two times I sent it in before.

This is my first post here, I am sorry but couldn't find any posting rules. In the event something's wrong or out of place, please let me know and I'll change accordingly.

Thanks already.

Hello @Thicc and welcome!

Online games are very resource-intensive.

If you haven't already, connect your PC via LAN instead of Wi-Fi.

Close background programs.

Try installing the games on your hard drive and playing them there instead of playing online (to see if the reduced performance/stuttering also occurs there).

Check the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to see which programs are consuming a lot of resources while the system is running at reduced performance.

Are these programs part of the game or other background processes?

Prevent unnecessary apps from starting automatically. You can also try reducing the graphics settings.

bye Fishtown

Thank you Fishtown, but that's not the problem.

My PC is connected by network cable.

The PC barely even uses a quarter of the resources running those games that causes the issue.

They're installed on my internal SSD.
Task manager is barely showing any use of resources.

For example, I can run Baldurs gate 3, Stellaris, Arc raiders at high settings, making my PC use up to 80% of it's resources and I don't have the issue ever.

But a simple game of minecraft which barely users any it happens every so often.

It happened again 10 minutes ago.

It managed to fix itself after about 3 minutes.

In task manager there are no sudden spikes, in fact the gpu drops to ~5% and lowers furhter untill it sits at 0.

The cursor too moves very laggy, but meanwhile audio goes fine, discord call has 0 issues, I can ehar reponses in realtime loud and clear.

It's like my RAM suddenly takes a dump, but memcheck didn't find any issues with it.

Anyone experience any issues even remotely like this?
