Medion i3-530

Hi

Spec....

Motherboard MS-7616

Intel Core i3-530 (2.93Ghz 4 mb Intel Smart Cache)
Nvidia Geforce G210 Directx 10 Graphics card with 512mb
3 GB DDR3 SDRAM
1 TB S-ATA disk
Multiformat DVD/CD burner
High Speed Wireless Lan 802.11n-Standard

This desktop is quite old but still works okay. However, on trying to increase RAM to 8GB (2 x 4GB), on startup it immediately goes to "Blue Screen". When I switch off and put the original 3GB RAM back in, it starts up as normal, no Blue Screen. I have reset the BIOS and tried with only 4GB stick. No difference. Help.

I disconnected the power lead. I took out the 3GB RAM already installed (1 x 2GB & 1 x 1GB). I removed the BIOS jumper pin. Removed the battery and left the computer for about 10 minutes. Replaced jumper pin and battery. Install 1 x 4GB RAM card in slot 2 (blue). Re-connected the power lead and started the computer. Pressed DEL to reconfigure BIOS settings. New 4GB RAM recognized in the BIOS and reset the clock. Saved changes and exit. Computer starts in normal way but as loading Windows 10 suddenly goes into "Blue Screen". Replaced the new 4GB RAM with the old 3GB (1 x 2GB & 1 x 1GB) RAM (blue slot) and restart computer, starts up as normal. Just does not like the RAM upgrade. Picture of 4GB RAM above. HELP!

Hi @WalFin ,

have you tried one of the many RAM compatibility checkers available on the internet?

Here you can find an example.

Even though Medion can not be held responsible for the usage or for the results of those tools, you may want to give it a go.

Gehringer

Thanks Gehringer. I shall give it a go. Nothing else to try. This has proved to be a real hard one but I bet the answer is staring me in the face and laughing.

@WalFin

You are sure the blue slots are Slots 2 and 4, which should be used first ? I would give it a try the other way round, and make use of the black slots. After this, if not functioning also, I would give the black slots a try, and then even a mixed populating of one ram-bar in slot 1 and the second in slot 2.  You never know.

bye, daddle

Has there been an upgrade for the Medion MS-7616 motherboard from version 1.0?

Hi @WalFin ,

Do you mean a BIOS update?

if there has been it should be available at the download area of your country's Medion Service website.

Regards,

Gehringer
