Medion TV sound cuts out (then in!) at low sound levels

Medion TV sound cuts out (then in!) at low sound levels, has done so since new (a few months) and is driving me mad.

ive tried searching high and low for this, as i I assume it is a ‘smart’ setting where the tv decides that there is hardly any sound (just background) so cuts to zero, then surges the sound back in when above a certain level.

it’s utterly bonkers!

this tv was the first new one we have had since 2006. The old tv had far better sound. Am thinking of taking it back as faulty, but thought I’d try here for one last chance… HELP please!
