M.2 SSD upgrade on P4408 D

Hi all

I have the P4408 D and want to put an SSD in there, but with only 3 SATA ports, not a lot of options.

I’ve never used the M.2 port, but i think it’s the gen 2.  I have messaged the main board manufacturers and asked for the manual for my board (h110h4-EM2) but was advised that it’s end of life and to use the h110h4-M19 manual. Layout is different and this manual informs me that it’s a gen 2.

Can anyone confirm that please?  Does anyone have the correct manual?

Also, if it’s gen 2, I am assuming it can’t take the latest NVMe cards, with the faster read / write speeds?  Has anyone added an SSD via this slot, is it a good option.

Thanks in advance all.

Colin.

I purchased a NVMe card, as I had not heard anything back.

I went for a Samsung PM981, updated the bios, but neither the bios nor windows recognises the SSD

I wanted to clone the current 1TB that came with the system, but if I have to I will just install a fresh copy of windows.

Has anyone any advise on what to do next?

Thanks.

Colin.

Thanks Fishtown

I did check with ECS and they told me it used the PCIe and not the SATA

Guess I got the wrong chip.

Ah well, back to eBay.

Thanks again.
