Upgrade of Medion Akoya p5360e with graphic card possible?

Hello everybody,

with which graphic cards I can upgrade my Medion Akoya p5360e. I have already tried four different allegedly compatible graphic cards from AMD and Nvidia, but always beeps the motherboard 5 times.

-The board is a MEDION H110H4-EM with BIOS UEFI 110EMW0X.103 (Chipset: Intel H110 (Skylake PCH-H).

-Built-in original card is a RX 460 2GB, Video BIOS version: 015.050.000.000.016258.

Although it worked with a GTX 1050Ti to start, so I had a picture, but it also beeped always 5 times and the card had always picture dropouts.

Is the board absolutely incompatible for other graphics cards?

Thanks and regards

Hi @cojes

I dont have experience with this specific board, but I cant imagine it being a compatibility issue with the  motherboard, assuming all cards you tried are UEFI compatible. Is your powersupply sufficient for the new cards? I think the 1050TI needs a 6 pin powerconnection?

And have you tried a different screen and cable combination, just to make sure they're not the problem?

Kind regards,
Bart

Hi Bart,

the original card AMD RX 460 needs 75W and works fine. I have tried with Nvidia and AMD cards with the same or lower power. The 1050 Ti was connected with the 6 pin powerconnection from the power supply, but the card needs also only 75W. Its a power supply with 350W.

OK, some of the tested older small cards are not UEFI cards, but the GTX 1050 and the GTX 560 are definitely UEFI with low power. The mainboard UEFI is upgradet with the actual version.  Maybe it' a Nvidia/AMD problem?

Hi @cojes

I don't think AMD or Nvidia should matter, I've exchanged Nvidia and ATI cards on a few systems before, both AMD and Intel based, never had any problems with it. My bet would be a problem with either the screen or the cable, or perhaps the BIOS is set to the internal GPU instead of the discrete card? What happens when you reinstall the original card?

Kind regards,
Bart

Hi Bart,

deinstallation of the original card had no effect. New card 1050 in slot, start and again it beeps 5x (the board).

=> original card again in slot, computer starts with automatically installation of the original card and it runs fine again without beeps.

Maybe it is a special setting on Medion mainboard?

Hi @cojes

I meant what happens if you connect the original card again, does that work?

I dont know of any setting in the BIOS outside of a switch between integrated and discrete graphics on some systems.

Kind regards,
Bart
