Sadly this did not solve my problem. However when I killed the Control Center application the overlay disappeared. I'm using Crawler E10. The overlay itself to me is useless since I have a external keyboard, and the overlay is annoying since using caps lock as a hotkey is already my habit. However I haven't found any options that allow me to remove the overlay. The overlay:

I'm trying to upgrade the ram but even I've removed the screws I can't have the panel removed. I've seen a post before offering a guidebook but the link has expired.
