Hey guys, I got me a Medion LCD TV a couple of years ago and overnight it became a nice flickering flashlight from nothing. Additionaly to the flickering it is buzzing like hell - sometimes its even louder than the actual speakers sounds. To describe the flickering: Imagine there are horizontal lines dividing the screen to a bunch of areas. Maybe like if u are turning VSYNC off at some videogames. These areas have all different light levels which are changing very fast and litteraly causing epilepsy. You really dont want to watch TV like this for more then 10 minutes. To describe the buzzing: Well the buzzing is a high frequent sound like an fast little electrical razor. Idk how to describe better 🙂 I tried a bunch of things to minimize flickering and buzzing and I found out that I have an option to change the backlight setting of the TV. So it has a range from 0 (dark but not off) to 100 (bright but not like the sun). It flickers and the buzzing is very loud at '0'. Going up to '99' reduces both flickering and buzzing. Reaching '100' eliminates the buzzing completly but there is still a slight flickering visible which is not extreme as it was before. So my question is what causes this behavior of the TV? I'm not a specialist but very interested to fix problems myself if possible. I googled and some old threads said its the inverter some others said its the bulb? I really dont know..
