How to turn off Galaxy S9 with broken screen

Most of the interactions we have with our phones take place via the touch screen. If the display does not respond, you do not know how to interact and carry out some simple functions, even if a simple restart might solve the problem.

It's even worse when the screen of your Galaxy S9 is broken, making the device almost unusable. If the phone crashed and the display broke, this inconvenience makes it impossible to perform even basic tasks like turning off Galaxy S9 with a broken screen using the on-screen power menu.

How to turn off Galaxy S9 with the broken screen without using the touch screen

If your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus has a broken screen and you don't know how to turn it off, we're here to help, but you have to be willing to become a bit of a freak.

To turn off the Galaxy S9 phone with the broken screen that makes it unusable through the classic touch screen method, we will use the ADB command. There are several methods you can use to do this, but as you know, to use ADB your device must have root access.

Turn off the Galaxy S9 with ADB

open cmd on your computer and in the command prompt enter the following commands you find at the end of these steps:

  • Install the ADB driver on the PC first.
  • Enable USB debugging on your phone.
  • Connect your Galaxy S9 to the PC using the USB cable.
  • Open the command window on your PC. Press the Windows Start button, then type cmd. Now, click on the command prompt to run the program.
  • Open ADB Sheel by running this command:
Adb shell
  • Now, shut down your Galaxy S9 using the ADB shell by running this command:
 reboot –p

That's all. If you followed the procedure correctly, you will be able to turn off your Samsung Galaxy S9.
