Definition

Slimline drives are preferably installed in notebooks, DVD players and game consoles. They have a reduced size (usually 12.7 mm height,128 mm width and 129 mm depth), which also makes them need a special form of SATA connector.

This was first defined under SATA 2.6 and consists of a signal segment and a power supply segment. The slimline connector has only a 6-pin power supply, which can only supply 5V devices.
