M2M (Machine-to-Machine)

Definition

M2M (machine-to-machine) technology was developed to simplify and digitalise communication processes between end devices. For example, it is used in the mobile phone industry.

For this purpose, communication takes place either directly between the end devices or centrally via a control centre. The exchange of information takes place exclusively via an existing internet connection of the terminals. This has created the possibility of mobile payment, among other things, in the context of advancing digitalisation.

M2M technology links information and communication technology.
