Miracast is a peer-to-peer wireless screencast standard defined by the WiFi Alliance in 2012.
Miracast enables screen content and sound to be transmitted wirelessly to playback devices (TVs, beamers and similar).
In order to establish a transmission via Miracast, both devices must have a WiFi module and be able to handle the WiFi Direct protocol and the Miracast standard.
The WiFi Direct protocol eliminates the need for a separate Wi-Fi network.
