Extreme Memory Profile

Extreme Memory Profile (XMP)

Definition

Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP) are certificates for DDR3 and DDR4 memory introduced by Intel.

The purpose of these certificates is to better utilize the memory speed.

Pre-stored profiles enable a simpler and more reliable overclocking of RAM - memory even outside the JEDEC - Standard.

Comparable certificates also exist for AMD systems, these have different names depending on the manufacturer, such as A - XMP (MSI), D.O.C.P. (ASUS) or EOCP (Gigabyte).
