Medion MD 31397 UK DNS BUG

Hi

When you manually configure the network settings on the Medion 55" TV (Aldi), there is the option of 2 DNS settings. If you enter 2 DNS servers manually, click SAVE and exit, upon viewing the settings again, DNS server 2 always reverts to 000.000.000.000. It will never save the 2nd DNS server IP address.

Has anyone else found this bug?

Cheers

Hi @wackyraces ,

does everything work normally when you type only 1 DNS?

Hi

Unfortunately it doesn't work correctly with 1 DNS. I use a smart DNS solution to redirect Netflix to various countries. It requires 2 DNS servers for full functionality.

Hi @wackyraces ,

are those DNS pointing to addresses in different countries?

Hi

That's correct, DNS 1 is set to UK and DNS 2 should be set to USA. This then allows the correct routing depending on the Netflix or other service location setting.

Hi @wackyraces ,

I would suspect that this is the reason why.

Hi

We do own Panasonic and Hitachi 4K televisions and these are able to support 2 DNS addresses using different countries. It's only the Medion that seems to have this issue.

This TV seems to have a number of little issues unfortunately. Hopefully there will be further firmware updates to address these.

Hi @wackyraces ,

my advice for you at the moment is to try to use the automatic DNS configuration, which should detect both DNS servers if they are set up properly.
