Failure to boot to recovery

Erazer Deputy P30 MSN=30034001
RTFMd and it will not boot form F11 key into recovery mode as suggested
Won't boot into Windows Auto recovery either - sits for ages then goes to the Medion Logo and hangs
Same with W11 USB boot stick
Tried setting the efi file as trusted
Tried HIRENS Boot CD on USB stick which gets "loading files" progress and again the MEDION logo and hangs

BIOS Ver 1.07.02RME1_010

Purchased just over 2 years ago

Boot from file attempted with efi file from BIOS update download 00_Bios_Specialist_p10_ which looks like wrong model? But that comes up with a screen too quic to read and BIO FAIL

attemp 2 with NPxxPNP-M_BIOS_1.07.04REM1 but none of efi files do any good
Tooke battery out for static discharge and tried boot without SSD installed which again failed at hang on MDEION logo when rescue USB tested

Clock is OK so not battery
Tried W11 install ESD-USB also hanging at MEDION logo 😞

Disabled secure boot thinking blocking but had also tried adding trusted efi
Tried clear TPM in sheer desperation

Any support welcomed

Can't afford a new gaming laptop for my wife at the current time please help

@spytfyre

Hi.

As far as I know your bootsticks are not the  best try.

Make use of the Microsoft booting and Installation Tool  "MediaCreationTool", also called  " Windows 10 installation media". I would for safety take the Win 10 Version, after you fiddled with TMP. And it has less requirements as the new Windows version 11 24/2.

And try different USB sticks and ports.

It appears that the Phison SSD is the cause. A fault in an M.2 SSD can cause many unexplained errors. If the USB boot sticks weren't  correctly created, or are simply incompatible, or a USB port or stick is faulty, then the computer won't boot.

If the stick created with Microsoft also can't boot, then things get more complicated.

Cheers, daddle

Hi,

I have the exact same issue after doing a windows 11 update on my Medion Erazer Crawler E30 laptop. Every time I boot my laptop it gets stuck on the manufacturer’s logo. I tried re-installing windows using a usb and forcing my laptop to boot on that usb through Bios, that didn’t work either. I even tried unplugging and plugging the battery, ssd, ram and CMOS battery, neither of these work.

Now, I’ve been browsing on Reddit and a lot of people are having the same issue, those who’s also got a InsydeH20 bios (Medion Erazer, Gigabyte G5 and few Dell laptops etc…). Nothing is wrong with our laptop’s hardware, it’s all software issues. Apparently, from what I’ve read, the windows update pushed something into the bios firmware which caused our laptops to soft-brick. So the Bios can recognise any boot drive but boot loader seems to fail.

There is a solution, though I think it’s mainly for Gigabyte laptops with InsydeH20 bios. The solution is to reflash the BIOS using an EFI Shell to bypass the “stuck logo” when booting.

Here’s the Reddit discussion I’ve been reading through: https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabyte/s/0hRRTHOePI

And here’s the solution made for Gigabyte laptops:

It’s important to know that this solution is for Gigabyte. I guess you could try using the same Flash tool but with your specific Bios, but I wouldn’t personally do it until Medion post an official solution.

Exact same issue with my mom's laptop(Erazer Defender P50). Tried a bunch of troubleshooting stuff, tried to boot up Windows from a USB drive, no changes. I asked her what she did last and she said update Windows. Hope a fix comes soon

I have a Medion Erazer Defender P50 and I have the same issue ever since the windows update. The issue here is that Medion needs to provide a flashable .sh bios so we can restore our PCs. I have also tried several methods to no avail. I have also spoken to their customer support and all I hear from them is that they are waiting for Microsoft to give them a solution. Thankfully my PC is still under warranty and I can't trust that this won't happen again in the future because of lack of a proper explanation on what is going on. At this point, its been more than a week and Medion should have provided an ETA for a fix. Actually liked this PC but extremely dissapointed in Medion's response to the situation.

Does anyone know where to find the BIOS files? I've reached out to medion but haven't had a response. I'm aware there's a bios update on the medion website if windows boots up for you, I'm at the other end of the spectrum where windows won't boot after the update so need the bios efi files. Gigabyte laptops have a fix for the issue so I can't understand what the hold up is? If anyone can help please?

So still no updates at all? We're just supposed to sit with expensive bricked laptops for weeks?

It's certainly frustrating. Amplified by the fact if you flash your bios you can get back up and working again. We just need the bios efi files which I think is a reasonable request.

@JonM

Exactly what I was thinking. Surely, if other companies like Gigabyte can do it in a few days, there’s no reason they can’t as well.

That' s the point. Medion takes unnecessaary long, because they do ot develop  Bios themselves. They have to get it from the barebone manufacturer. And China or Taiwan really is very far away.

At least a few mü seconds. 😑

Then of course it also depends  on the contract they made with them; e.g. how often can they ask for a bios update? So it is also a question of the money they pay.

Bye, daddle
