MEDION® LifeCloud® P89654 (MD 90224) RAID Drive Failure

Hello dear members of the MEDION community!

A few days ago I received an e-mail from my NAS P89654 (MD 90224) with the following message:

A failure was detected on your MEDION® LifeCloud® RAID Array.
Please visit the Preferences section.

Actually only one of the two Toshiba hard drives was detected in the settings. After a reboot, the faulty hard drive will be detected again and during the RAID I recovery process, the faulty hard drive will eventually disappear from the Disk Management and only the working hard drive will be detected.

Before the healthy hard disk also stops working, I wanted to replace the defective hard disk with a new identical Toshiba MD04ACA400.

Before I order and install a new hard disk, is there anything I should consider?

1. doesn't the hard disk need to be formatted to be recognized?

2. how do I recognize in the rack which hard disk is N°1 and which is N°2? According to the LED (second LED is red) the hard disk N°2 should be defective.

Thanks in advance for any help, because I have checked all forums and found no thread which could fit my problem.

Salut filipe,

You'll find below the picture that will allows you to identify the defective HDD regarding the RED led:

Identification HDDIdentification HDD

We recommend you to contact a specialist to replace the defective HDD as we do not ensure the lose of data in that case.

Thanks a lot Lolopadepo! 😄

I managed to swap the defective HDD by a new one and the RAID1 rebuild is being completed thanks to your contribution!

Kind regards,

Filipe
