Definition

S/PDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) is a digital data transmission. It is mainly used for the transmission of digital audio signals.
The plug connection is made via RCA plug or the TOSLINK plug.
With RCA connectors, transmission is procssed via electrical signals due coaxial cable. With TOSLINK due optical signals via fiber optic cable.
