Why is the handset on my phone not working? (DECT)

Question

Why is the handset on my phone not working? (DECT)

Answer

This may be because the mobile unit is not connected to the base station.

The battery could be also flat, faulty or be inserted incorrectly.
The handset may be out of range of the base or may not be properly logged in / configured on its own base or on an external router.

To find out if your handset is registered and connected to the base you can press the "paging button". If the handset is ringing, it is logged in and working. If no confirmation tone can be heard, please re-register at the base.

To check if the battery is flat, faulty or inserted incorrectly open the battery cover and check the following:

  • does the inserted battery look bloated / swollen?
  • is the polarity of the batteries correct?
  • Is the plug of the battery pack (if available) connected to the handset?

There may also be a problem with the range between the base and the handset, so please check the range in the user manual.

If your handset is not operated the base but on an external router please check the settings of the router and make sure  the handset is registered correctly.
