Why is the device not connecting to the Wi-Fi network?

Question

Why is the device not connecting to the Wi-Fi network?

Answer

Wi-Fi networks can be affected by low range or signal strength, dropouts or very slow internet speeds.

Here's how you can easily eliminate Wi-Fi errors:

  • The propagation of radio waves is slowed down by objects and walls, for example. As a result, a poor connection is displayed on the smartphone or notebook or the connection is interrupted again and again. To increase the range, it is often sufficient to position the router better.
  • Some devices only work in certain frequency ranges, such as 2.4 Ghz. You can find more detailed information in the operating instructions for your product. These settings can then be made in the router.
  • If many routers are operated, for example in an apartment building, it may help to change the frequency from 2.4 gigahertz to 5 Ghz.
  • Some routers automatically select the best available channel for the Internet connection. This can lead to some channels being used more than others. You can manually change the channel selection in the settings of your router and thus use a channel that is not so heavily used.
  • Wi-Fi networks can also be secured with a MAC filter to determine which device is allowed to join the network. Check whether this function is activated and switch it off or add the device.
