pink line on screen while using video on ERAZER SCOUT E10 / Clevo NP70PNJ (-M)

Hi

For a couple of months I have seen a horizontal pink line appear on my screen, but not all the time.

It is not physical, not a scratch nor a damage to the surface of the screen. It appears for instance when the laptop is booting, when a photo is displayed or when I watch a video.

It does not apply when I browse, email or use my regular office apps like Word, Excel, etc..

So I suspect it may be linked to a graphic card or component that is used only in such cases.

Where do you think it comes from and what can I do to fix this?

Thanks in advance

That's it. Horizontal, pink line at the mid-height of the screen, on the right side.

Hi @GEM ,

1. Connect to an External Monitor

  • Test with HDMI or DisplayPort output.

  • If the pink line does NOT appear on the external screen → issue is with laptop display panel or its signal path.

  • If the line appears on both → issue is likely with GPU or GPU drivers.

2. Force Use of Intel GPU

  • Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Global Settings → Set Integrated Graphics as preferred GPU.

  • Restart and test with videos/photos again.

If the line disappears, this confirms the issue is tied to NVIDIA GPU rendering.

3. Update or Reinstall Graphics Drivers

Many thanks @Igor28 for offering this diagnosis process.

I tried an external display via HDMI : no problem there. The pink line does not appear on the monitor.

So I tried deactivating the Nvidia graphics via the Nvidia Control Panel to use only the Intel integrated graphics : after rebooting the laptop, the problem is stilll present.

So, according to your reasoning, the issue is with Intel GPU.

So I downloaded the Intel Driver and Support Assistant. It found an update available for the Intel UHD Graphics, so I installed it.  After rebooting the laptop, the problem is still present.

So now I understand I need a full install of this new driver, as the update didn't suffice. I downloaded the DDU utility, but it is a bit technical process and I will need to make time for it.

So I'll keep you posted on that clean install but for now I wanted to share the progress I've already made so far.
