Hi @ZacharyCarver ,

 

unfortunately questions of that nature are difficult to assess since it relies on personal judgement.

 

I would say that it is normal that the noise reduces whilst unit is on power saving mode.

 

I advise you to monitor the unit and see if the SSD will start malfunctioning, there will be any signs of overheating or if the performance of the unit will be impacted.

I searched every iteration of the make and model and I never once saw a link to that, thank you!

However, as it turns out, very gently wiggling with flat headed screwdrivers did the job in the end. Gone from a 1 TB HDD and 8 GB of RAM to 1 TB SSD and 16 GB of RAM. I am a happy boy!
