MEDION ERAZER RECON P20 new RAM

CPU Int I5-12400F

RTX 3060 12GB

Bios B660H7WOX.107

Originally, the computer had 1x8G 2400Mhz cl22 RAM memory. I bought new RAM memory cards 2x8G 3200Mhz, cl16 dual rank. The computer shows 16g RAM memory, but only 2133mhz. I can't find in the bios where I can adjust the RAM memory in any way. Are these the wrong RAM memory cards or am I doing something wrong?

I bought these

I have the same mobo and haven't found that profile either. So I'll test if this works.

You can find in the manufacturer's specs which rams work with this mobo, but I can't find any rams for sale that are compatible with this mobo.

I have concluded that MAYBE 1.2v and MAYBE the cas delay are the factors by which I get higher clock frequencies from the rams.

The manufacturer of the mobo has not added an xml profile to this and probably never seems to do so, so the only option is to look for faster rams operating at 1.2 volts. I will report how it goes with those rams when I get them.

Alright. Now I have tested the new RAM memories.

When you go to the RAM manufacturer's page to see information about RAM memories, the most important information is what clock frequency is at 1.2v.

In my case, the other RAM work at 1.2v voltage at 2400Mhz clock frequency and the other RAM memory works at 1.2v voltage at 3200Mhz clock frequency.

RAM memories are usually sold with overclocked clock frequency information, but since this motherboard does not have the profile in the bios where these clock frequencies and voltage can be changed, then by looking at the pages of the RAM manufacturers, you can see what the clock frequency will be at 1.2v voltage.

I'll put links to PDF files below where you can see the datasheets of my 2 diffrend RAM memory that works.

I tested both RAMs separately, not together!

Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 3200 MHz CL16 16 Gb

model: KF432C16BB1/16

This works at 2400mhz at 1,2v

https://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KF432C16BB1_16.pdf

KINGSTON 16GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL22

model: KVR32N22D8/16

This works at 3200mhz at 1,2v

https://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KVR32N22D8_16.pdf

So when you buy RAM memory for this machine, check the RAM manufacturer's website at what speed the RAM works at 1.2v voltage.

Oh well I bought these: https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/memory/cmk64gx4m2e3200c16/vengeancea-lpx-64gb-2-x-32gb-ddr4-dram-320...

and they’re only working at 2133Mhz and has 1.35V..

Thank you for your testing and information and I really hoped that this information should’ve came from Medion a long time ago

Yeah, i can see your rams specs there is

SPD Speed 2133MHz

SPD Voltage 1.2V

Maybe u should sell those and buy new ones. Now u know what to look.

Yeah probably or I’ll just switch mobo to another microATX that supports XMP and hopefully prevent any other issues that comes with this b660h7-m20, I guess it was my fault from the beginning when I only checked the graphics card and processo now that I'm a little more knowledgeable, it's probably best that way

Hi@Juze-81 @FirePowerr ,

Just thought I'd report back about my further adventures related to this thread.

1. I can confirm adding another 8GB 1.2 V CL22 RAM works well with the mobo and the pre-installed memory bank. I get dual channel 3200MHz. See the other thread for more details: https://community.medion.com/t5/Desktop-PC-All-In-One/Medion-Erazer-Recon-P20-RAM-and-SSD/m-p/166856...

2. I have finally also succeeded with upgrading the BIOS to ver 1.12. However, just as the readme file indicated, there are no new exciting features enabled. Just minor bug fixes. So no possibility to use XMP profiles for the RAM memory or other useful settings.

So in short, just confirming your previous posts. No possiblity to upgrade to faster memory etc. Usually there are more advanced tabs in the bios, but they are probably hidden. Don't know if there is any way to unlock them.

If you search on the web, you find that the mobo is capable of handling RAM with XMP profiles. It is thus a manufacturer (that is Medion, I suppose) choice not to make that option available in the bios.

What does this update include? Will it make XMP show in bios?
