Medion LIFE P85080 (MD 87523) - Backlight too bright

Good morning everybody.

I am trying to use this device as an alarm clock radio.

The only problem I have is with backlight bright.

Display standby level don't change intensity between Medium and Low. I think that always is low because volume and nav switch don't have light. Even It's too much for me.

I've update the device to last version.

Can someone check if its device (or similar medion radio alarm) have the same problem?

Would be possible to implement more light levels? I think it could be solved by software.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers!

Hi @viejotejo

Welcome to the Forum, just to double check, I have found the following on the manual.
Could you confirm that the described process to dim and set the back light does not work on your machine?

17.9. Backlight
You can use this function to set the display backlight:
− Dim the display in standby mode or operating mode after a set time
− Brightness of the display
Set timeout
 Select Timeout: and select On, 10, 20,30, 45,60, 90, 120 or 180 seconds by
turning the OK rotary dial.
Display Power-on Level
 Select Power-on Level by rotating and then pressing the OK rotary dial, and set
the desired brightness level to High, Medium or Low.
Display Standby Timeout
 Select Standby Timeout: and select ON, 10, 20,30, 45,60, 90, 120 or 180
seconds by turning the OK rotary dial.
Display Standby Level
 Select Standby Level by rotating and then pressing the OK rotary dial, and set
the desired brightness level to Medium or Low.

You can download the full manual here.

As far as I know there hasn't been any advisories or issues of this kind reported.

Hi @TPFLegionaire, thanks for reply!

I've testing again and could get correct results about standby level and standby timeout: Lights, bright and time work correctly.

But brightness in low level its to bright for me (trying to sleep).

At the moment, I'm covering it with paper, but I would prefer a software solution, implementing more levels of brightness (lower).

Could it be possible? Where can I request this?

Thanks again!

Hi @viejotejo

Thank you for your feedback...I will pass on the link to this thread to our software support contact , I can't promise this will be acted upon but at least it will be communicated.

In the meantime, I guess a "hardware" solution will be in order!

Hi @viejotejo

Just to let you know , I have received confirmation that your request has been passed to the correct department who will decide if a firmware update is in order.

As it is a quite a subjective perception , I suspect their first reaction was
"What do you mean; too bright!"
Well, my work here is done 😉
Have a good weekend!

Cheers!

Ha ha! thank you.

It may seem strange, but with the standby light on low I can see the ceiling lit blue 😅
