Erazer Defender P40 microphone not working.

I hope someone can help.
I have tried all the solutions suggested in other forums.
My internal microphone has stopped working a little while ago, possibly after a Win 11 update.
I believe device manager doesn't even register it.
I have downloaded the new drivers from here and unzipped them but I now have a big file of individually zipped items and I do not know what to do with these, or indeed if this would help.

Hello @RichardN and welcome.

Have you tried the Medion service app? https://www.medion.com/gb/service/service-app

The microphone should be visible in the device manager.

Reinstall the audio drivers.
You have saved the necessary drivers on your hard drive D : or E:
under "Drivers" as a backup.
If you downloaded them from the Medion service website, you must first extract them.
Number 17 is the audio driver. Install them once.

You should check with the Sound settings in - > Settings --> System -> Sound -> on that page check on the rright side "Sound ControlPanel "

Check the settings for the second page "Recording" Is the Microphone activated? if not , mark it activ.

Or check the entry "Microphone privat settings", Alllow Acces, and App access os App access.

Hope it helps, if not post a screenshot of the "device manager".

A big thanks to all that replied, it is greatly appreciated.
Yep, when I dug into Device manager and recording, the mic was off. I have no reason to do that and it happened after a Win 11 update some weeks ago.

As a supplementary question, I have this big file of drivers from Medion but they are all zipped after unzipping the original downloaded file.

Do I unzip each one individually and then install them ? Or indeed only the one concerned with audio ?

Do you mean the Sound Control Panel? It's not the Device Manager to switch the Mic on or off. Except you deyáctivate the correppomding drib´ver.

So after you acivated the Mic does it function for recording?

I assume it did. If, then please be so kind and mark the correspondiig post 3 for solution, which could helpa lot of other user with the same problem.

About your drivers I can not really help you, seeing I do not own your Defender P40.

Generally for Sound and settings necessary it are te chipset drivers and the audio drivers (Realtek?)

But if the micro probs are gone with activating the microphone in Sound Control Panel it's not necessary to reinstall sound drivers.

Just let me know.

Hi,

Yes I went to:

Control panel - sound - recording (tab) and there the mic was off.

It is now working for Skype, WhatsApp and recording.
I did not turn it off, otherwise I would have known where to find it again!
I can only imagine that a Win 11 update did something.
I'll go and mark the appropriate post as the solution.

It doesn't matter who did it, in fact the Mic was deactivated. But don't be too sure.

In former times I often switched some features Off or On,; a couple of days later I forgot; and another couple of days or weeks later I couldn't even remember where in the setting I did it.

Or even had forgotten completely what I had done, and which consequences it might have had implicated.

This even happens nowadays sometimes. In this respect Windows is quite tricky. 🙂
