SSD not being recognized by DISK Management or BIOS - B460H6-EM

Recently got an SSD ( WD_BLACK SN770 1TB )
Since installing it has not showed up in neither the BIOS or Disk management.
Have had problems with trying to update the BIOS to a newer version.

So I am stumped on what to do next, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Chaaws,

In which slot did you put the WD_Black SN 770 ? In the vertical slot next to the RAM slots?.

Most PC with a B460 mainboard came with a Phison M.2 SATA SSD in Slot M.2.1, mounted horizontally next to the PCIe x16 slot. The one vertically mounted next to the memory modules is a socket for a PCIe M.2 SSD.

(in the picture the mainboard is shown upside down)

The socket next to the PCIe x16 port, almost in the middle beneath an optional graphic card, is a M.2 Socket for a SATA M.2 SSD with B+M Key, because the attached protocol is a SATA protocol.

If this socket is equipped with your boot SSD, it must be a SATA M.2 SSD.

Hey Daddle,

SSD is socketed in the centralized slot (WD_Black SN 770)

HDD is socketed next to the RAM slots

And the third bottom slot is currently empty

Side note: The WD_black ssd is NOT properly screwed in yet
But decently certain that it's still connected even if it's not secured.

Your picture is not to be seen yet. It first must be authorized by a mod.

About which HDD are you talking? We only spoke about a M.2 SSD.

Why don't you read my post carefully? I wrote:

Apologies,

The picture was supposed to assist with the locations of the SSD and the Currently slotted HDD, didn't know it needed approval before being shown.

So the centralized slot is not functional with the current card.
Which M.2 socket would be compatible?
Alternatively what SATA card could be a good replacement?

The slot where you put the WD SN 770 SSD can not read your PCIe WD_Black because it is a PCIe. This slot is for SATA M.2 only. So get a SATA M.2 SSD- you can take anyone you like.

We don't give any suggestions for any brand.

The other slot you marked HDD is a PCIe M.2 SSD slot; a HDD can not connect in this M.2 Slot.

In this M.2 slot your boot M.2 SSD with a PCie (NVME) interface is mounted.
