hi I require some help please.

I have a Medion laptop with an i5 7200u processor which apparently is not an approved processor for the windows 11 update.

upon trying to find alternative processors for the motherboard but I don't seem to be able to able to find any information about it. I used system information and CPU-Z and it says its a Medion F13K other information I can find is

system model S3409 MD60377.

any help information would be much appreciated.

Hi @steve53 ,

Your i5-7200U is a BGA (Ball Grid Array) chip, which means it's soldered directly onto the motherboard.

This cannot be upgraded or replaced like a desktop CPU. Laptop motherboards are typically not compatible with other CPUs unless they were made for them — and even then, it's a big maybe.

So: swapping out the processor on your existing motherboard isn't feasible.

Your Options:

Option 1: Stay on Windows 10

Windows 10 is supported until October 14, 2025.
Perfectly usable and stable until then.
You can still get updates, security patches, etc.
No immediate need to upgrade unless you really want Windows 11.

Option 2: Install Windows 11 Anyway (Bypass CPU Check)

You can install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware.
Microsoft allows this, though you might miss out on some updates or support.
You just have to bypass the CPU check during installation.

thanks for your reply, Well that's a bugger then. so the choice is stay with an unsupported 10

or switch to an unsupported 11 seems like a catch 22 situation.

on the slightly plus side my main computer that's running a Ryzen 3 2200g looks like I can upgrade that.

So just need to check the wife's laptop now, not holding out a lot of hope for that either but we shall see.
