Hi, I've recently opened my laptop that I've owned for a few years to replace a fan and had disconnected the laptop from AC power, disconnected the battery and the coin cell battery.
Once I had connected the coin cell & main battery it had turned on like normal but when in windows the option to use the turbo mode was missing and windows had uninstalled my dedicated GPUs driver which seemed odd.
Now when I use the button next to the power button, it only toggles fan boost which never was a thing until now and I haven't found a way to revert.
This wasn't the first time of me opening the laptop and disconnecting all the power sources, probably been a few times with no problems at all.

Tried reinstalling gaming center multiple times, rebooting, reset BIOS, disconnecting all power and leaving to sit with no luck.

Potentially unrelated however when waking from sleep, gaming center will rarely have the CPU temperature stick at the previous value which causes the fans to speed up and won't change until the next sleep.

Edit: Realised that the built-in speakers (Realtek) Now show as "High Definition Audio Device" and seems to sound worse. I've heard on the x25 that the mic doesn't work with a bios update and possibly this is related?

Gaming Center version 1.1.0.51
Windows 11 x64
Beast x10 MD 61883

Regards,
Rowan

Except from changing the fan?

Taking off power and reconnecting it doesn't change anything in drivers or other Software.

Why don't you tell us which fan you did replace?

The fan for the CPU or the graphic chip fan? If it has two at all.

Did the NB get too hot before? How did you notice a fan is defective?

Did you replace the thermal paste for the chip?

Does the replacement fan has the same speed control as the one it replaced?

Did you try to install Linux in between?

Perhaps an "EMP" impuls or a shortage occurred? Did you use wist straps against electro statical charge, or did you make a potential equalization before opening the laptop?

Edit: Please tell us the MSN number.

Bye, daddle

@daddle
Hi Daddle, thanks for responding.

I was cleaning out the laptop's GPU fan which I had unplugged along with all the power to the laptop and had plugged it back in and turned the laptop on. As the back cover was still of I had turned the laptop off, and windows was shutting down but the screen had gone black and my keyboard & mouse were still on but there was no response and no buttons seemed to do anything. I had left it a few minutes before deciding to hold the power button and it had turned off as expected.

However once I went to turn the laptop back on and windows had loaded, the gpu driver was uninstalled and so was the audio driver which seemed odd. And then I went to press the mode cycle button and it would toggle fan boost which never happened before and so I launched gaming center only to find turbo mode was missing and I couldn't use the fan boost button within as it was missing.

The MSN number is 30029491

I do want to point out I have replaced the thermal paste on the GPU and removed the liquid metal on the CPU with PTM7950 a month ago with zero problems. That's what confuses me as it seemed the Embedded controller has potentially reset to factory and no longer communicates properly as the startup lighting for KB and light bar no longer function but will once gaming center has launched.
On the same day (Before the problem occured it did shutdown due to thermals which was my fault and it turned on again after a few minutes with zero problems), but the problem seemed to occur once windows had frozen after shutting down.

Perhaps it's a problem with the BIOS? I did upgrade it about a year ago but if there's a way to rollback or install an older one perhaps that'd fix it?

Regards,
Rowan

( But it must have still the original partition layout on the Windows boot drive!)

If you changed there anything, Power Recover will not work. The same if you deleted the Recover files in the folder Recover (not Recovery!) on partition D or E .

Or you have to sent it into Medion Service for a checkup, or you get yourself a new mainboard .But the price Medion ask for is ridiculous: 1085, 63 €. I do have the original drivers and recovery image but the partition they're on no longer exists.
I have reinstalled the drivers and Gaming center software but this did not change the problem of missing turbo mode and the button toggling fan boost.
From briefly searching the EC has a list of devices connected, and if it has been reset windows will see those devices as a new device, which is why windows didn't load the GPU & Audio driver and had reverted to the generic drivers until I reinstalled the OEM ones.

No idea why the EC has been reset, apparently it can be caused by no power from the clock battery, main battery and AC which seems incredibly rare to occur.

My current bios is N.1.09 but it isn't the original bios the NB shipped with, had updated about a year ago.

Hopefully a moderator will see is as I'm new to the forum and not aware of how to ask one for help.

Sorry about that Daddle, I'll remember in the future, although hopefully this will be the first and last problem with this laptop.

@Major_ToM do you know of any bios updates or even potentially rolling back to the original bios to restore the EC?
Medion Beast X10-MD 61883
MSN 30029491
Bios version N.1.09 (Not N.9.01, accidentally switched it around) Originally shipped with N.1.05

Regards,
Rowan

Just an update, I been using the laptop as normal and went to go press the button to see if it's changed at all, and now it toggles between Office & Gaming instead of Fan boost, and Gaming Center now has the Fan Boost button, although turbo mode still seems to be missing.

Pretty strange for it to come back for no reason, PC hasn't updated and I've been using it normally since last posting. I'll try a shutdown and startup and edit this message with the results.

Edit: On a full shutdown and waiting for windows to start, the button has reverted back to toggling fan boost and I can no longer toggle fan boost via Gaming Center, so back to the original problem. Turbo mode is also still missing.
Quite strange that it partially fixed itself and broke on a reboot. It wouldn't make sense but perhaps the fan I mentioned before has something to do with it?
