I have the same machine you do and I run 6000MHz on the same RAM sticks you have so the problem must be software.

You did unlock the RAM OC in the bios didn't you?

Did you ask someone on Reddit about what other settings they may have used?

The bios could very well be the limiting factor. XMG was in my case vastly superior to the Medion bios, but I had been asking Medion for an updated bios for weeks and they're just totally inept kept saying they had none if it wasn't online. Sorry Medion, you were useless.

I just got my new Erazer X40 in and I know about all the problems recent gaming laptops have been having.

I'd like to check if my bios is the most current or if there is a new one that improves performance (reduces crashes).

There is no download for bioses that I can find, but maybe I'm not looking in the right places.

I think you’re right. XMG has 1.19 and I think I inadvertently wrote the X40 bios was 1.19 too, but I’m sure it was 1.18 as I remember it was still one digit lower than XMG.

Still, it took over a month of nagging before they gave it to me.

XMG BIOS is on 1.21 and EC-1.09, and works perfectly.

I want MEDION to provide the same level of support and work on their BIOS to sort the issues with freezing and restore Medion Logo on Boot.

I didn’t want to write it here, to avoid others doing it and possibly voiding their warranty, but I too am on the XMG 1.21 bios. I just got too tired from arguing with Medion and not getting anywhere to get the simplest of updates just so the machine would work normally.

When I finally did get an update all my problems were already solved, by XMG.

All we need now is a max fan setting on the watercooler and let’s gooooo!

Same. Never Medion for me again. I wouldn’t even call them Medium as that would be an upgrade 🙂

I did buy the Medion watercooler though as XMG is still using the older version and I wanted to be able to travel more easily with it. (I also bought the XMG watercooler as I feel I owe them, and backups never hurt, in case I wanna go modding, which I do).

Hi, now worries, always glad to help.

I am still using a different bios, but now it's the Eluktronics bios instead of XMG. I know Prema semi-personally and he hooked me up with a complete system metamorphosis. The laptop no longer thinks it's a Medion but all parts are now Eluktro identified.

(I can reverse this in case of warranty issues).

For anyone else I'd still recommend an XMG bios, it is mostly fool proof (don't underestimate the idiocy of professional fools) and easiest to come by. Medion warranty repair (my screen died) is second to none, within a week. Large kudo's. But bios support is like non existent, sorry Medion.

For your model I would think you need the RTX4080 bios version which I believe is the same as the 4090. It'll say so clearly in the bios zip file ReadMe. CPU model does not make a difference, only what GPU you have. Check their site and possibly their Discord to get more acquainted with the matter if you want.

For warranty purposes you'd do well to back up your system first so you can (if the system still works) reflash the old system.

Use the Intel Flash Programming Tool for that, it can read and write your system flash.

Good luck!

It's quite foolproof. Just flash it. RAM speed depends on the RAM, not on the bios.

My machine worked fine after the flash, and only AFTER did I upgrade my ram to 5600 (running at 6000).

Thanks for the feedback.

I flashed it yesterday out of impatience and everything worked right away.

I already knew that the RAM clock does not have anything to do with the BIOS per se, but I thought that the configuration of the laptop was absolutely identical to the XMG device. However, since the XMG is specified at 5600 MHz, I thought that a more aggressive profile with the RAM would simply be possible via a setting in the BIOS.

In the end, I'm happy to have the current BIOS and will settle for 4800 RAM clock.

You can defo adjust the RAM settings more precise through the XMG bios.

You can also use the XMG ControlCenter as that has some updates that might make it work smoother.

Both Medion and XMG bios are pretty much the same in my opinion. The XMG control center is green and has a few more options. Personally I would just set your RAM to max speed possible in the BIOS (5600 DDR5 is the fastest you can run on these laptops, so don't bother investing in better RAM) and then remove the control center completely. The RGB light tweaker is handy actually, but I'm sure there must be a program out there that can do the same.

If you're hoping to use the control center for any kind of watt, volt, degrees, celsius, hz or ghz adjustment don't waste your time.

These laptops/chips run very very hot and don't have adequate fan adjustment so your only option is to undervolt and then restrict the processor/power in something like Throttlestop.

To keep the package power constantly below 93 degrees while gaming you will take a performance hit, obviously.

Beware listening to advice from others.

The ControlCenter has great use, you can unlock the Bios OC features with it and you control the watercooling with it. It's not junk.

The laptop supports 6400 RAM as well, so again, don't listen to just anyone but rather only to people with experience. Like me.

Alternatively; go to the Discord servers of XMG and/or Eluktronic, it's the same machine and they know all about it there.

Oh absolutely, if you have the water cooler definitely use the control center. I don't see the need to spend the extra money to get my gaming temps below 70 degrees, personally.

You may benefit from watching/reading reviews of this laptop on clocks with and without water cooling. It works, well.

It also helps reduce fan noise.
