I've had this laptop almost a year when its off it charges fine but when in use the charger keeps disconnecting

This behaviour is definetely not normal and before checkng to open up a service case you could check if this tutorial delivers some helpful information:

@Major_ToM My laptop wont currently hold charge when you boot it up the battery icon flashes charging then black x. Is the battery of laptop dead? Can I get replace battery/laptop?

Hi @Ruthenicmike88 ,

the further process depends on the 8 digit article number (3002xxxx), which is placed on the lower case of the laptop und when it was bought by you.
For sure you can also feel free to get in contact with your local service center.
