SSD for MEDION akoya notebook model E7225

Hi all,

I have an old MEDION akoya notebook model E7225 and I want to put an SSD drive but I don't know which disk to buy and if it will be compatible with the notebook. I would like to know if anyone has done something similar and how it has gone.

Hi @Guille ,

can you please inform the MSN number of your unit?
It is an 8-digits code, starting by 100,300 or 500, which you will find underneath the unit.
I need this number to confirm it, but Medion sold some units of the same model with a SSHD (SSD + thin HDD) drive on it.

Specs for compatibility purpose are:
Seagate ST500LM000
* 500 GB
* 8 GB MLC NAND Flash
* SATA 6.0 Gb / s (aka "SATA III")
* 5,400 rpm
* 64 MB cache
* Series: Seagate Laptop Thin SSHD

Unfortunately I didn't found the MSN number underneath my notebook. Anyway I attach three images. That's all. As you can see there's no MSN number anywhere. Maybe the worn sticker was the one yo want but the content is erased. Any idea to get the data?

yes, it was on the worn sticker.

You can still find it on your warranty card and at the side of the original box.

So wie es aussieht wurden nur einige betimmten Modelle mit einer 500 GB SSHD ausgestattet. Für diese ist zusätzlich angegeben dass ein zweiter Festplateneinbauplatz vorhanden sei.

Die anderen Geräte sind soweit ich das übersehen kann, mit einer 1 TB SATA HDD ausgerüstet. Und haben keine Angabe über einen zweiten Montageplatz für einen zweite Platte. Obwohl vom Gehäuse her, und auch einige mit der BB-Bezeichnung PEGATRON E7225 / C17MUN oder auch mit PEGATRON E7225 / C17MUT die SSHD und auch die Option für den zweiten Einbauplatz angeben.

Mit welcher Festplatten- Grösse war dein NB bei Auslieferung ausgestattet, und wieviel Ram ist eingebaut? Und weisst Du noch wo es gekauft wurde?

Du könntest auch ein Foto von dem Notebook von der Unterseite hier posten, ob da verschieden Service-Klappen drin sind.

Aber unabhängig vom Typ müsste auf jeden Fall eine NB 2,5" SSD Platte mit 9,5 mm oder 7 mm Bauhöhe, und SATA III Anschluss passen.

Aber du kannst ja die vorhandene Platte rausnehmen und angucken.

There are only few models equipped with a 500 GB SSHD. Those models provides a second mounting place für a second HDD/SSD. The other models all came with a 1 TB HDD.

So to identify your model, if yours came equipped with a 1 TB SATA HDD, for those no information about space for a second 2,5" HDD was given. Although both barebones, PEGATRON E7225 / C17MUN and the PEGATRON E7225 / C17MUT came equipped or with a 500 GB SSHD, or with a 1 TB SATA HDD.

So which size HDD your NB has?

You also could post a foto from the bottom of your NB, to see if there is a service opening for a second mounting place. And you could measure the size of the built in (S)SHD, especially the thickness.

You need a plain normal 2,5 inch notebook SATA III SSD; I guess up to 9.5 mm there should be no problem with the size.
