Akoya P5365 DEAD

My 12 year old PC will not boot up

at least - nothing shows on screen - even the BIOS screen

I replaced the HDD with an SSD and to start with all was fine, but all of a sudden the display went black

Is the Video card dead or is it something else ?

Hello @Tibbles and welcome
give the MSN number from the computer. is located behind or underneath the device.
Try another screen. or try the screen on another computer.
if that's ok. Remove the graphics card, hard drive, and RAM from the computer. Start the device. When booting there should be at least a picture (CPU has its own graphics chip) and a beep (Ram is missing).

How exactly would a video signal get from the CPU graphic chip to the monitor - if I remove the graphics card ?

maybe a beep - but NO "picture" is possible

How do I access AND SEE the BIOS settings - when I can't see any picture ?

How do I change any BIOS settings when I am unable to view any display at all ?

Hi,

it depends if your Proc has an integrated graphic chip.

Then normally your Mainboard has video ports also.

Then you have to swap your monitor cable to the video outlets on the Mainboard itself.

Those are vertically arranged ports, lining up with the Mainboard.

If there are none, you proc has no Intel graphics. (Or there are ports but not connected because no Intel graphics internally)

I found one P5365 E and two P5365 D,

Only one, MSN 10016350, has integrated graphics:

MSN 10015805 --> CPU Intel® Core i7-2600 3,40 GHz no graphics

So only the P5365 with the MSN 10016350 you can switch to Intels integrated graphic.

If the video card ist source of your problem, after taking the dedicated videocard out, you have a chance to see the bios and change settings.

If the reason is originated somewhere else, you have to check all the other components.

Does this mean that to use the on-board video - I need to remove the dedicated video card and that the on-board will then automatically take over ?

Yes, more or less. If you keep the MSI graphic card installed, it will most probably not work. Because the video signal is´s routed through the MSI graphic card. Even if it is defective, it might disturb the video signal from the Proc integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics.

So better take the MSI for test reasons out. This I wrote already in my last post!

I do not have an on-board graphics card - so I cannot recover my PC !!

I will have to buy a replacement card and keep my fingers crossed that that is the cause of the problem

I am sorry, but then you gave me a wrong MSN number.The PC with the MSN you me gave me, MSN 10016350,

has a dedicated MSI 545 graphic card, plus a Intel® Core i7-3770-E2 3,40 GHz, which contains a HD 4000 graphic chip.

So you should get more informed about the technical details concerning your PC. Look here:

Maybe I should include a photo of the rear of my PC ?

There is only ONE video output port on my PC - And that is from the Graphics card - there is NO video port output from the motherboard

I am aware that the 3770 i7 processor has the capability of handling graphics but there is no hardware on my PC to handle it !!

Your picture I can't see yet.

But it is rare, that there are no videoports on the mainboard itself. Mav be they aren't cut out in the I/O shield?

But whatsoever, then you have to get a replacement for the videocard. For testing if the video card makes the prob, a cheap model would be satisfactory.

The only way to open the drawer is via Windows !!

No idea why but this PC has always been unique

To install the new drive you do not have to open the DVD drive!

But I can not believe it. Check this again with a bright lamp. The eject button is very flat and hardly stands out from the panel!

At the moment - I cannot tell you the BIOS that is installed - because of a lack of graphics card - but if you could confirm the latest BIOS ... tomorrow, when I receive my Amazon purchased card - if it works ? I can also update the BIOS - it will be the factory supplied version (12 + years old) at present...

Can you please correct the data and the image of the mainboard on the Medion service page https://www.medion.com/gb/service/product-detail/10016350 ,

obviously these are not correct because the board MSN 20051613 does not have a VGA and HDMI port.

As it is stored correctly in the internal database / Intranet. see there under 10016350 or 20051613

Es könnte eventuell ein Irrtum vorliegen. Auf der Service Page wird für das MSN 10013650 mit dem Board MSN 20051613 ein HDMI und VGA Port angegeben. Auch auf dem MB ist der Video-Anschlussblock zu sehen.

Es wäre schon merkwürdig wenn in einem Rechner mit integrierter Proc Graphikeinheit ein MB ohne eigene Videoports verbaut würde. Auch wenn der Rechner mit einer zusätzlichen dedizierten Gafikkarte ausgestattet wird.

Sehe gerade das freigegebene Bild. Da fällt auf daß auf dem Rechner des Users die Videoausschnitte im I/O Shield fehlen

Vielleicht wurde das eingespart, da der Rechner mit einer dedizierten Grafikkarte vertrieben wurde.

De beiden anderen P5365 mit den MSN 10015454 / MSN 10015805 haben ein andere Version des Mainboards mit der MSN 2004 9146. Das keine HDMI und VGA Anschlüsse in der Auflistung und dem Bild zeigt.

Gibt es ein BIOS-Update? Im Moment kann ich Ihnen nicht sagen, welches BIOS installiert ist - wegen fehlender Grafikkarte - aber ob Sie das neueste BIOS bestätigen könnten

Warte mal ab ob dein Rechner mit neuer Grafikkarte überhaupt funktioniert. Und dann lese zuerst die vorhandene Bios Version aus. Ehe wir uns hier auf eine mühselige Suche machen. 😠 😆

Bei dem altem Rechner wird seit langem schon kein neues Bios oder Update mehr erstellt worden sein.

OK - Die Ersatzgrafikkarte macht genau das Gleiche wie die alte Karte = überhaupt kein Videoausgang.
Ich habe es an den HDMI-Anschluss des Fernsehers angeschlossen - falls das Problem der Monitor war, obwohl mein Raspberry Pi Video an den Monitor ausgibt.
Ich habe den RAM entfernt und ersetzt, ohne Wirkung.
Der Prozessorlüfter dreht sich wie gewohnt und ich höre die normalen Startgeräusche.

Es kann nichts mit der SSD zu tun haben - denn ich kann nicht einmal das Pre-BIOS sehen.

Was könnte es sonst sein?

Die Aussage ist falsch. Entweder du siehst wenn im Bíos Quiet boot ausgeschaltet ist, den Post bzw seine Meldungen" .

Ich weiss auch nicht was das Pre-Bios sein soll. Erst kommt der POST, der Check vom Bios, den du aber bei aktiviertem Quiet Boot wie es bei den meisten Rechnern ist nicht siehst.

Er rmüsste wenigstens ohne die neuen Treiber VGA Auflösung anzeigen. Versuche auch vom MediaCreation Tool USB Stick (bei ausgebauter Platte) zu booten

Teste besser mit dem Monitor angeschlossen. Beim TV kommt die sichtbare Verbindung oft träge, bzw erst nach Umstellung der Quelle von TV auf HDMI.

Aber nimm mal die SSD bzw die Bootplatte raus, jetzt wo die neue Grafikkarte drin ist. Startet er dann ins Bios?

Die Fehlerursache kann vieles sein. Fehler im Proc oder seiner Grafikeinheit. Fehler im Board usw. Das kann man ohne technische Prüfung so aus der Ferne nicht sagen.
