There are 4 different versions: Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital Live, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD. The data layout of AC3 is described as a simplified c-like language in official specifications. An AC3 data stream is composed of a series of synchronizing frames, which are made up of 6 audio blocks. Each audio block consists of 256 audio samples per channel.
